Classically trained on double bass. Played in orchestras throughout Cumbria and north east England. Became resident bass player in Carlisle Working Men’s Club at 16 years of age. Then played in several bands in Carlisle and SW Scotland, working in clubs from Glasgow to Sheffield and from West Cumbria to the northeast of England. Supported many stars from the 60’s including Matt Monro, Cathy Kirby, Frank Ifield and the Bachelors. Spent three years with the Gateway Jazz Band playing with some of the finest musicians around including George Chisholm, Brian Lemmon, Terry Lightfoot and Danny Moss. Moved away to live in North Yorkshire and played in a number of groups in pubs amd clubs from Blackpool to Hull. Retired back to Carlisle in 2013. Now feel privileged to have the CV to join West Coast Jazz.
